4th and Walnut (Muhammad Ali): "The Four Ss", Minus One

This intersection was once a happening place! The Starks Building sat on the NE corner, Stewart's Department Store on the SE, Seelbach on the SW, and Selman's (Atherton Bldg.) on the NW. All of the buildings are still there except the Atherton. It was built in 1901 and demolished in 1980 to make way for the Meidinger Tower. Note: partial view of the Watterson Hotel, far left.
